I recently turned 24 and I feel life’s rushing. The realization starts from the moment you see status updates on social networking sites

In a relationship -> Engaged To ->Married

Next and Expected update would be wedding (and honeymoon) photos of friends  every other day. More so when the least expected classmates(yeah not friends) have settled down. Every gang of girls has the order set out during the college days of who is going to be the first , Love or Arranged etc.It’s quite interesting to see how those early years predictions fall into place.And the wickets keep falling and you start counting -3 down , 2 to go.

It was just other day that I had to visit a doctor for a check up and the first question was Age ? I said,” 23. No, 24″. And the immediate question or rather assumption was -Single ? Heck, Yeah!

I find it easier to tell my birth date. Let them calculate the years, Why do I have to go through the pain! Though, It’s common to find the birth year usually missing from the social profiles of both men and women these days

It  goes similar for most of us class X th boards then science/Commerce , get a degree and start working! All throughout our teen age we look forward to this phase of our life but once you are in an year into it, having enjoyed the financial independence, then it strucks- What next??

I think this question troubles females more and it’s got to do more with the Indian society’s mindset.Everything that a girl wants to do should finish by a set timeline.The choice of job/city is influenced by the future prospects.

We don’t have high career expectations from girls and once they start earning ,the next major stage in their life is marriage.The sooner , the better.And no wonder why guys like foreign chics for their “No strings attached” attitude.

I know deep down inside ,each girl has planned her “sapnon ka ghar” long back. We  do think about settling down and living happily ever after but not without fair share of struggles and risks. Nothing in Life that’s worth having comes easy and even we want to earn it by sheer grit and determination.

I have been observing friends around me getting panicky about this new confused stage in life; Uncertain, unsure of what lies ahead and to my surprise I  have been counselling everyone when I know that I am no exception.

Yesterday only I was explaining to someone that we twenty somethings crave for a close companion. There is this void that can neither be filled by parents/siblings nor same-sex pals. And here is when the confusion between good friends and love starts arising , commitment, long-term/long distance all these terms start puzzling you ,well more on that in another post.

But I feel that somehow I have never been troubled by all this too much.I have my share of puzzles with missing pieces but I want to take time in solving it. There will be pitfalls but this is the best time to fall and get up.

There are weak moments but the optimist inside me says lets see what life has in store because it’s the mystery that adds flavor to life. Right?

My mantra is Don’t wait to reach the destination, Rather enjoy the journey, you never know what turn changes the course of journey.What say?Let the adventure begin!
